ALTAR FLOWERS – The flowers on the altar are given in celebration of three momentous events that have occurred recently at the Halfhills. First, January 14th Mikayla turned 13. February 28th Gary turned 50, and February 27th Aunt Eileen (Briscoe) turned 89.
CIRCLE ONE MEETING – Circle One will be meeting this Thursday March 4 th in the Multi-Purpose Room at 1:30PM. Eileen Briscoe will be the hostess and Shirley Pohlable will be the devotional leader.

ABOUT OUR FEATURED ARTIST – Herb "Von" Vondereau is a Lima resident with a passion for painting. It's an avocation he has pursued for forty years. Von studied at Ft. Wayne Art Institute, the Community College of Rhode Island and Rhodes State College, and has exhibited in countless shows, including in numerous coffee houses in our area. One of Herb's specialties is murals, some of which are displayed at Honda, Wellman Seeds, Standard Oil and by the US Army. His artwork is in several private collections, including overseas. All Herb's art work on display is for sale. Receipts from any and all sales of Von's artwork will be contributed to HAITI RELIEF . Here's an opportunity to acquire a painting you like, and benefit people in need. Check with Pastor Alex about prices. GOOD FRIDAY WORSHIP SERVICE AT ST. MARKS – Good Friday Worship Service, April 2 nd will be 12noon - 1 PM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. It is sponsored by Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association and will include the Pastors of St. Paul.
WHY NOT BELONG? – Why not belong to this joyous fellowship of believers! New members will be received into St. Paul UCC during Lent 2010 at either service. An information session for those interested in learning more about membership at St. Paul will be offered Sunday March 7 th at 9:15AM in the church library. GUEST PREACHER SUNDAY MARCH 14 – This year Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association (WAMA) Pastors are swapping pulpits in recognition of Ecumenical Week and the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. On March 13 and 14 Pastor Alex will lead the Saturday evening and Sunday morning worship services at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Their Pastor, The Rev. Mark Bauer, will preach here on March 14, both services. Pastor Mark grew up in Pittsburg, PA and Buffalo, NY and attended college and seminary in Columbus, OH. He has served congregation in Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Ohio. He has been at St. Marks for 14 months. His wife Wendy works at Lutheran Social Services in Lima as a Clinical Nurse Specialist managing medications for clients. They have three children, five grandchildren, and 2 grand dogs. Wendy and Mark enjoy camping, reading, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. He is the son of a Lutheran pastor and between Wendy and Mark there are six other Lutheran pastors in their immediate family. Please welcome Pastor Mark Bauer on March 14.
GOOD FRIDAY OPPORTUNITY FOR REFLECTION – From 7 to 8 PM on Good Friday, April 2, Heidi Meade , Director of Arts Place in St. Mary's, will present a very special program in our sanctuary. She has a PowerPoint program of artwork depicting Christ's crucifixion. Images to be viewed, and explained, will include Michaelangelo's famous statue, Pieta , and Rogier van der Weyden’s Crucifixion and Depositi o n. Both are powerful and moving, rather than gruesome. Some of it will be familiar, some surprising, some emotionally challenging, some even joyful. This is how believing artists down through the centuries have envisioned this critical event in salvation history. Come to our sanctuary, and be prepared to view our Suffering Savior in new ways. The program is free, and open to the public. Heidi Steinke Meade is a native of St. Mary’s, Ohio and a graduate of Memorial High School. In 1995, Meade earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. In 2000 Meade earned a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Notre Dame on a full fellowship. Her artwork has been represented by galleries in South Bend, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois and Cincinnati, Ohio. She has served as an adjunct instructor for the University of Notre Dame, Wright State University and Edison State Community College. She currently serves as the Director of Education for Arts Place in St. Mary’s, Ohio and is the Vice President of the College Community Arts Council. She is a Rotarian and the mother of Daniel Steinke Meade. Heidi is also married to Darren Meade, Auglaize County Assistant Prosecutor. Heidi and Darren are members of St. Paul's UCC in St. Mary's.
