Welcome to Wapakoneta!

Wapakoneta is a community of around 10,000 people.  We are the county seat of Auglaize County.  Our vibrant revitalized downtown is now a destination shopping experience with restaurants, a historic theater, and antique & specialty shops.  We have an arts community that has a main street presence with continuing exhibits and classes.  The YMCA, has a new building with a splash pad and they have recently purchased an adjacent building for expansion of childcare services.  There are numerous parks throughout the community including athletic fields for various sports, a waterpark, a large riverwalk, and a park with a gazebo where summer festivities are held.

Wapakoneta is located at the crossroads of I-75 and SR 33.  We are nestled in the rich farmlands of the Midwest, and we also are home to an increasing number of industrial and manufacturing companies.  Several major hospitals, colleges, and museums are within 20 minutes and maintain satellites in Wapakoneta.  We have active theatre groups in Wapakoneta and nearby Lima, a professional symphony in Lima, opera, touring Broadway shows, and live music within easy driving distance.  The Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum is an international gem located in our town. Wapakoneta is also the home of many large events that bring crowds into our scope of influence.  The Children’s Hometown Holiday, The Summer Moon Festival, and events being hosted for the 2024 lunar eclipse which is projected to bring in over  200,000 people to the Wapakoneta area, are just a few of the exciting events in Wapakoneta. Recreational opportunities abound with parks, hiking trails, and pet recreation. Nearby Grand Lake and Indian Lake provide opportunities for fishing, boating, and leisure activities.  Wapakoneta also has an active Ministerial Association, which sponsors many worship and mission opportunities for our area.
